Trip Description
Journey to the heart of Haiti’s 🇭🇹 revolutionary history for an immersive experience through Cap-Haïtien and northern Haiti—where powerful stories of freedom, extraordinary heritage, incredible cuisine, beautiful landscapes, and the warmth of Haitian culture come together. Haiti: Roots of Freedom is more than a getaway. It is an opportunity to experience the places and stories that shaped the world’s first independent Black republic and forever changed the course of history. Our journey takes us to the legendary Citadelle Laferrière, one of Haiti’s most extraordinary landmarks and an enduring symbol of independence and resistance. We’ll also explore the magnificent ruins of Palais Sans-Souci and spend time in Milot, connecting the history we’ve learned with the communities and landscapes where it unfolded. We’ll venture east to Fort-Liberté, one of Haiti’s most historic coastal towns, for another perspective on the country’s colonial and revolutionary past while discovering a part of northern Haiti that many visitors never experience. But this journey isn’t only about history. We’ll experience Haiti through its food, people, music, communities, and everyday culture. Carefully selected culinary experiences will introduce us to the flavors of northern Haiti—from traditional dishes and local specialties to memorable dining experiences that celebrate the richness of Haitian cuisine. Our time along the coast brings us to Labadee, where we’ll go beyond the famous beaches to visit the village of Labadee, connect with the local community, and experience another side of this beautiful coastal region. There will also be time to relax, enjoy the turquoise Caribbean waters, and appreciate the natural beauty that makes Haiti truly special. This is an invitation to experience Haiti beyond the headlines—to understand its history, celebrate its people, taste its flavors, and stand in the places where a revolution changed the world.
